- To accompany young people as they discern the path of freedom with the joys and sorrows of life.
- To allow young people to learn from mistakes through fraternal correction.
- To help young people use their ingenuity to address issues faced by their peers in their own voice.
- To impart to young people that lay vocation is directed above all to charity within the family and to social and political charity.
History
The office for young people in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur was established in 1989 under the guidance of, then Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Most Reverend Anthony Soter Fernandez.
This office was given the name Archdiocesan Single Adult and Youth Office with the abbreviation ASAYO. Now, it is known as ASAYOKL: ArchKL Office for Young People with abbreviation ASAYOKL / ASAYO Kuala Lumpur.
Since 1989, ASAYOKL has been accompanying young people in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur through various means with the priority of young people's relationship to Jesus Christ. Since its inception, ASAYOKL has undergone various changes and continues to be attentive to the signs of the times in order to achieve the goal of accompanying young people who themselves continue to grow and explore their own lives.
